13.5% of Inhousers: AI Tools ‘Essential’ – Survey (Artificial Lawyer)

The latest Spotdraft survey shows that 13.5% of in-house lawyers now use AI tools daily, and over 65% are open to broader adoption. The rise of generative AI has made legal tech more accessible and effective compared to earlier NLP/ML systems. Interestingly, while AI has not directly resulted in job losses, some teams are shrinking due to efficiency gains and economic pressures.

Adam Nguyen, eBrevia: ‘AI Is Reducing Inhouse Headcount’ (Artificial Lawyer)

eBrevia CEO Adam Nguyen shares insights into the organizational impacts of AI adoption, noting that companies are reducing headcount in legal and ops teams as AI tools prove more effective. He also highlights a shift toward outsourcing to Alternative Legal Service Providers (ALSPs) to offset the risks and costs of AI implementation. The conversation will continue at the Legal Innovators California Conference, where legal and tech leaders will discuss how to navigate the evolving landscape.

Seattle-based Supio has raised $60M to grow its AI platform tailored for personal injury law firms. Its tools, which include AI-generated demand letters and interactive case timelines, help firms manage more cases and improve verdict outcomes. Supio’s platform supported a $495M verdict in a recent high-profile case and is already proving essential in handling unstructured legal and medical data. This funding round, led by Sapphire Ventures with participation from Mayfield and Thomson Reuters Ventures, brings Supio’s total raise to $91M.
